Your role

 

The Department of Communities and Justice directly supports approximately 800,000 people every year and reaches a further million people through local community-based programs.

 

Our Housing Service branch is one of the largest providers of social housing in the world.

 

Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer Specialist provide a broad range of applicant, tenancy and property management services and advice to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients including advocating for those with complex support needs.

 

You will also liaise with stakeholders across the access and tenancy service streams; and provide coaching and support to team members to optimize business and service outcomes.

 

What you’ll do

 

Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer Specialists assist Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients with complex support and housing needs, providing specialized advice, and making referrals to appropriate support services. This role provides a broad range of tenancy and property management services and advice to clients.

 

In this role, you will be working across a range of Housing programs (including Rent Choice, Start Safely and Private Rental Brokerage), policies and systems to maximize efficiency and service delivery outcomes as well as providing training, coaching and support to team members.

 

Working collaboratively with Client Service Officers, Team Leaders, internal and external service providers, you will develop innovative strategies to deliver improved client outcomes while contributing to continual improvement for your district.

 

What we’re looking for

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Solid working knowledge and contemporary understanding of the issues faced by families, in particular the barriers faced by Aboriginal communities.

·       Experience in providing culturally appropriate front line customer service by building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, service providers and clients to offer fit-for-purpose and culturally safe support services to Aboriginal clients and their families.

·       A comprehensive knowledge of issues impacting client’s ability to access housing and the experience in linking clients to appropriate housing products to meet these housing needs.

·       Knowledge of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal support services available to clients.

·       An understanding and be able to use computers, telecommunications, audio-visual equipment or other technologies used by the department.

·       Experience using Microsoft Excel.

·       The willingness to travel to work with clients in their home (a corporate vehicle will be provided for travel between office and clients home).

 

Appointments are subject to:

·       A current Australian driver’s licence.

·       Confirmation of Aboriginality.

·       Reference checks.

·       A National Criminal History Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2024.
