About us

 

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster. DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. Stronger Communities is focussed on achieving safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs.  For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems.

 

The Corporate Communications Team is part of the Communications Branch and works alongside the Online Engagement, Media and Events, and Communications Strategy and Campaigns teams to deliver the department’s communications objectives.

 

About the role

 

In this role you will produce, or facilitate the production of, communications content across a variety of formats to deliver the department's marketing and communications strategy and to promote the policy priorities of the department to inform and influence the community and uphold the department’s reputation among key stakeholders.

 

You will provide support to the Corporate Communications Team to assist in the delivery of the deparment’s communications objectives. This includes (but not limited to):

 

•  Draft communications content and materials to provide quality, accurate and relevant information to stakeholders.

•  Undertake a range of communications activities to support DCJ policy and operational priorities and to communicate key messages relating to initiatives and service delivery.

•  Provide coordination, logistical, tracking and reporting services for communications projects to enable the efficient and effective communication of developments and information to the community.

•  Undertake research to provide input to the development of communications programs and materials.

•  Prepare a range of data for managers and other key stakeholders, including status updates, reports, budgets and discussion papers that are timely, accurate and relevant.

 

About you

 

We’re looking for an Assistant Communications Officer who has a passion for supporting and developing innovative and creative communications materials.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Demonstrated skills in supporting, developing and producing engaging communication content and materials
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in support planning and project managing communications activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare documents for various audiences and purposes.
