About the role.

The Public Service Commissioner is an independent statutory officer with functions set out in the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. The Commissioner’s functions relate to integrity and ethics, merit in recruitment and selection, equity and diversity, and executive employment arrangements. 

This key role works on the design and delivery of frameworks and initiatives under the Act. This includes the application of merit recruitment and selection principles, the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework and senior executive employment arrangements. Initially, the focus will be on an update to the Capability Framework and its associated tools and guides.

About the Office of the Public Service Commissioner (OPSC)

The Office of the Public Service Commissioner is within the Premier’s Department and staff are assigned to the OPSC to support the Commissioner’s functions through various programs of work including developing policies and guidance that applies across the Public Service.
