·         Clerk Grade 11/12, Salary ($131,094 - $151,609 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About us

 

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster. DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. Stronger Communities is focussed on achieving safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs.  For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems.

The Campaigns, Strategy and Events team sits within Communications Branch within DCJ Corporate Services Division. The unit delivers effective and relevant media services including campaigns, media releases and ministerial announcements which promote the reputation of DCJ. In addition, the unit develops and delivers DCJ’s external communication strategies and plans as well as delivering events and campaigns of state-wide significance that support DCJ’s strategic objectives.

 

About the role

 

Reporting to the Director, Campaigns, Strategy and Events, this role leads a newly created Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes communications team, sitting within Campaigns, Strategy and Events. The team will work with the division in DCJ charged with improving Aboriginal outcomes in criminal justice, child protection and housing.

 

The Manager, Campaigns and Strategy will lead a team of communication professional that are responsible for:

 

Communication strategy, planning and advice for operational, policy and support functions across DCJ, using a business partnership model

 

Marketing and communication campaigns that inform stakeholders and the public about the work DCJ does, and how and why it does it

 

Producing compelling content for multiple channels and in multiple formats, including videos, graphic design, written content, photography, infographics and more

 

Social media management, including strategy, planning, channel management, data and analysis

 

Working across the Stronger Communities cluster and the sector to align and improve communication outcomes

 

Essential requirements of the role

 

Tertiary qualifications in relevant field and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with

demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

 

Demonstrated experience in managing complex communications activities and building strong working

relationships with business partners.

 

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/

clearances:

•  National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014

•  Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children)

Act 2012

 

It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.

 

About you

 

The successful applicant will demonstrate;

 

Tertiary qualifications in communications / marketing/ media and or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with ongoing professional development is an essential requirement for this role

 

Demonstrated experience in management of complex marketing/communications initiatives.

 

Demonstrated management skills and experience within public and/or private sector organisations, including demonstrated ability to lead teams in an environment of change

·         Documented verification of Aboriginality.

 

The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:

1.     You are an aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent;

2.     You identify as being Aboriginal; and

3.     You are accepted as such by the community in which you live.

 

An acceptable form of documented verification is a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.
