Agency overview

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster. DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. Stronger Communities is focussed on achieving safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs.  For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems.

 

Courts, Tribunals and Service Delivery support the NSW community by providing access to justice services, through the protection of rights and public safety initiatives. There are 164 courts and tribunals throughout NSW.

 

 

About the role

The role provides a range of clerical and administrative services including, but not limited to, responding to client enquiries, providing assistance in the courtroom, data entry and records management.

 

Essential Requirements

It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants will have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 25 October 2021 and their second dose by 17 January 2022.

Circuit and relieving staff are required to possess a current Australian Drivers Licence and must be willing to travel. Travel to other locations within a hub may also be required, this may include overnight stays. 

 

About you

 

  • Ability to provide clerical and administrative support to the court and registry
  • Ability to use computer systems to accurately enter data
  • Ability to provide administration support to a variety of teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to provide quality client service to magistrates, judges and members of the public 
  • Confident in using computers and software applications to enter data
  • Ability to adapt and work in different jurisdictions and court locations
  • Ability to comply with department policies and practices such as Equal Employment Opportunities, Harassment prevention, EAPS, Code of Ethical Conduct, Ethical Work Practices, Disability Awareness, Cultural Diversity and Workplace Heath and Safety
