Chief Executive Officer, Vision Australia
Overview
Shape Vision Australia's future as an inspiring CEO driving national impact and empowerment for the Blind and Low Vision community.
The organisation
Vision Australia is a leading national organisation with a proud 150-year legacy. We're passionately pursuing our mission to empower people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose. Our dedicated team of 850 employees and 2,000 volunteers delivers vital services across education, employment, independence, and social inclusion – from specialist allied health and employment support to assistive technology and Seeing Eye Dogs.
The opportunity
Are you an inspiring, strategic leader ready to champion a future of empowerment and belonging for the blind and low vision (BLV) community? Vision Australia, a leading national provider of services supporting people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose, seeks a new Chief Executive Officer to guide our next chapter.
For over 150 years, Vision Australia has been dedicated to placing people who are blind or have low vision at the centre of everything we do. We are looking for a CEO who embodies this commitment and can lead a passionate team of employees and volunteers through a dynamic environment, driving both service excellence and organisational sustainability.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a vital organisation. You will lead the strategic direction, ensuring the voices and aspirations of the BLV community are embedded in our operations and advocating for systemic change. You’ll foster an inclusive, high-performing culture, oversee operational and financial stewardship, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
About you
We are seeking a leader with strong strategic capability, proven operational and financial oversight skills, and a deep commitment to human services. Your leadership potential and capacity to inspire are paramount; traditional CEO pathways or prior not-for-profit experience are not prerequisites.
Crucially, you understand the importance of leading the shift from traditional service delivery to fostering true community belonging and client empowerment. You will be committed to exploring innovative service delivery opportunities and partnerships that will drive enhanced client outcomes. Lived experience of blindness or low vision will be highly valued. We actively encourage talented candidates from the BLV community to apply, while warmly welcoming applications from all visionary leaders who meet the essential capabilities.
Strong financial literacy is essential; experience in strategic fundraising or revenue diversification is desirable. You must be adept at navigating complexity and leading change.
What’s on offer
A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, commensurate with their skills and experience.
This role is ideally based at our national headquarters in Melbourne, however, outstanding candidates based in Sydney or Brisbane will be strongly considered. Regular interstate travel is required.
How to apply
If you are a positive, collaborative, and commercially focused leader ready to make a profound impact, we invite you to apply. Help us shape a future where people who are blind or low vision can truly live the life they choose.
