About the Company 
The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of the NSW Communities and Justice Sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.

 

 

About the Role
As a Classification and Placement Officer, you will primarily be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Classification and Placement processes, policy and procedures to achieve the appropriate, efficient and effective placement of inmate’s state-wide.
  • Coordinate and participate in the operations of the Classification and Placement process in a custodial environment to achieve quality outcomes linked to the NSW Premiers Priorities.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of information, generate reports and review and monitor records.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply current legislation, policies and procedures in respect Classification, Reception, Screening and Induction, and movements.
  • Understanding of contemporary corrections issues and priorities.
  • Current and valid driving licence and willingness to travel within NSW.

 

 

Please note: Successful applicants when offered will be required to undertake Classification and Placement training.

A talent pool will be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months. If a vacancy arises in your preferred location during this time, you may be contacted and asked to attend the location to meet the manager. From there a final decision will be made regarding whether to activate the talent pool. Offers are based on location preference, capabilities, knowledge and experience.
