About the Department
We ensure young children get the best start in life by supporting and regulating the early childhood education and care sector. We are the largest provider of public education in Australia with responsibility for delivering high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population.


About the role
The Director, Integration Competency Centre drives high-quality support for enterprise integration and architecture across the Department, including schools and corporate business units, and builds/maintains strategic integration partnerships at all levels, including national (e.g. National Evidence Institute), inter-agency (e.g. Department of Customer Service) and vendor (e.g. school-based systems and applications).The Director is an enterprise integration and architecture specialist, and provides high-level strategy, detailed advice, and recommendations to the Directorate leadership team and actively contributes to branch business planning.


To be successful in this role, you should be able to define the strategy as well as deliver to it. You will lead multiple squads to deliver the majority of the core integration for the Department. Data governance, APIs, data streaming and microservices are your bread and butter. We embrace a modern approach to delivery, and you will have demonstrated your ability to drive results in a DevOps culture.

Targeted Questions (maximum 300 words per response)

  1. Please describe how you have contributed to the development of your area?s business plan and ICT strategies; what high-level reports and recommendations did you make to the leadership team regarding enterprise integration and architecture, including potential technical challenges impacting the delivery of ICT solutions?
  2. Describe a complex, enterprise scale business problem relying on data integration that you have recently worked on, preferably in an API and micro services context. What role did DevOps play in accomplishing your intended results?

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an IT discipline and/or equivalent industry experience
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department?s Aboriginal Education and Training policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
