Disability Inclusion Coordinator

KEY OBJECTIVE:

The Disability Inclusion Coordinator will provide operational support and advice to strengthen disability inclusion across the Australian Volunteers Program.

The Disability Inclusion Coordinator will work to ensure people with disability are supported to volunteer, both remotely and in-country, by providing advice and expertise on accessibility requirements and disability inclusive development practice.

This position will play a key role in advancing the disability inclusion focus of the Australian Volunteers Program with the explicit aim of increasing the number of volunteers with disability who participate.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • Lived experience of disability will be valued in this role.
  • Experience working with people with disability.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to mainstream disability inclusion across organisations and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong professional and collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to deliver disability inclusion learning and training activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Knowledge and understanding of disability-inclusive development practice.
  • Experience working with stakeholders such as Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, international development agencies or community or government organisations with a focus on disability inclusion.
  • Experience designing and delivering disability inclusion and access plans with and for individuals with disability.
  • Understanding of and commitment to EEO, child protection and privacy principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

Tertiary degree in international development, community development, community services, social work or other relevant field, and/or at least five years relevant experience.
