Family Violence Manager
· Temporary Full-Time until 30 June 2023 (possibility of extension)
· Location: Parramatta
· Clerk Grade 11/12, Salary ($131,094 pa - $151,609 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster. DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. Stronger Communities is focussed on achieving safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs. For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems.
The Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes Division has been created to drive improvements in how Aboriginal people experience the Department services. Specifically, it’s aiming to reduce the numbers of Aboriginal people in prison and detention, reduce Aboriginal Children in out of home care, improve housing options and make homes safer for Aboriginal women and children.
About the role
Lead a team providing strategic program management services across a large-scale strategic program or a range of smaller programs, which directly contribute to better outcomes for individuals, families, groups and communities.
Disable Experience
· Ability to work under pressure and have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culture, and communities
· Ideally you are comfortable engaging Aboriginal community members, NGO and departmental staff alike. You are comfortable in your Aboriginal cultural capability
· Ability to lead and facilitate stakeholder engagement, consultation, negotiation planning, implementation and recommendations to support sound policy decisions
· You will have proven capability in leading a team as well as building trusted partnerships with senior executives and can embed a positive culture.
· You will have high level of negotiation skills to influence staff and drive engagement through the development, delivery and implementation of program design focus that ensures programs are evidence based.
Essential requirements of the role
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
About you
In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong capabilities in:
· Ideally, you have experience working either with Aboriginal Peoples and communities in leading and managing a team in the designing, developing, managing and reporting on strategic programs, including implementing or oversee coordination of program implementation to meet client service delivery needs.
· You are experienced in leading contracts, tenders and capital works programs including review and preparation of budget estimates and performance reporting.
· You are confident in managing and leading a diverse team.
· Aboriginality is considered desirable for this position. Typically all or the majority of the work of an Aboriginal Targeted role will involve the development and or delivery of initiatives, project/programs and services which impact on Aboriginal people and or involve liaising directly with Aboriginal people and communities.
