Government House Sydney, the residence and seat of administration of the Governor of New South Wales, is the oldest statutory office in Australia and is staffed by employees of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC).  

 

Under the direction of the Official Secretary, Government House Sydney is structured into three key functional areas: Household, Protocol, and Estate Management.  These three streams work collaboratively to ensure professional and timely support and advice to the Governor of New South Wales – the most senior office in the State – in fulfilling constitutional, ceremonial and community responsibilities. 

 

Government House Sydney is staffed by employees of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

About the Role
 

Government House Sydney is currently seeking to fill the Government House Attendant role. This role provides a great career opportunity for a person who is a ‘jack of all trades’ and has a ‘can do’ attitude. The Government House Attendant provides a range of maintenance and transport services to the Governor of New South Wales and to Government House Sydney.

 

You will be responsible for: 


  • Maintaining and undertaking repairs of grounds and facilities ensuring equipment and property are well maintained and in good working order
  • Maintaining facilities to provide safe access for visitors and staff, and to protect assets and report any damage to the Manager
  • Organising and preparing presentation of Government House before and after events and functions
  • Performing transport services for the Governor and/or Governor’s spouse and undertake general support duties such as moving furniture and other items (including working from heights of up to 10m, chopping wood, moving heavy objects and high value items). 
 

To be successful in this role you must have a current unrestricted driver’s licence and knowledge of vehicle maintenance and car parking facilities in accordance with security, vehicle safety and work health and safety requirements. You must also maintain appropriate personal standards of grooming, presentation, demeanour and behaviour.

Job Note: The successful applicants must be available to work weekends including night shifts. A recruitment pool may be established to fill similar temporary or ongoing vacancies in the next 18 months.

Salary: Clerks General Scale. Package up to $70, 965. Includes base salary ($31,366 - $64,024) plus superannuation and leave loading.
