About the role 
The House Supervisor will be involved in the delivery and supervision of client-centred services that support people with disabilities to enable access to a quality life with dignity, respect and social inclusion, in the least restrictive environment. The incumbent will demonstrate leadership qualities, have experience in working in group homes, and have knowledge of relevant legislation and excellent skills in communicating effectively with a diverse group of key stakeholders. This role is based in Bundoora, Victoria. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
  • Lead and plan support for people with disabilities, within their home and community, to participate in a range of life areas (including social, recreational and daily living activities) based on the goals of individual Support plans. 
  • Advocate within the broader community on behalf of clients and their families, to support inclusion, participation and respect for rights.
  • Convey information, to clients and their families, and other people in the lives of clients and participate in negotiations with family members, medical services, activity services and other community services to help meet daily client needs and/or plan support for future client requirements. 
  • Prepare reports within area of expertise or responsibility and identify areas of service improvement.
  • Manage a small staff team and related services including:
  • o contribute to roster development, staff replacement and leave planning
  • o participate in interview process of staff recruitment
  • o allocate work across a team
  • o plan for staff capability including: staff induction; identify role expectations and performance requirements to staff; inform staff on policies and standards within area of responsibility
  • o review staff decisions and performance
 
 
Skills & Experience 
 
  • Certificate IV in Disability Work or the Advanced Certificate in Residential and Community Services;
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC);
  • Full driver’s licence;
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Exceptional problem solvingskills and the ability to self-manage 
 
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
