About the role

 
Life Without Barriers has been selected by the Victorian Government to operate a number of Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short Term Accommodation and Assistance Programs (STAA) currently managed by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). To make the transfer of the services to Life Without Barriers as smooth as possible for the participants, staff and families involved, a number of positions are now available across our services in Victoria.
 
The purpose of an Investigator is to conduct investigations into reportable allegations of abuse and neglect of children, young people and disability  clients by Life Without Barriers staff, contractors and carers. We currently have two open positions and these role will be working from our Richmond office.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Conduct investigations into allegations of reportable conduct and disability reportable incidents against Life Without Barriers staff, contractors and foster carers, within the framework stipulated by state and territory jurisdictions.
  • Complete investigation plans, conduct investigative interviews, analyse evidence, make recommendations in relation to findings and complete investigation reports.
  • Ensure all investigations are conducted to the highest quality standard.
  • Provide feedback in relation to operational issues identified during investigations to mitigate risks to children, young people and vulnerable clients.
  • Communicate and act in ways that are consistent with Life Without Barriers Values of Responsive, Imaginative, Courageous, Respectful and Relationships
 
Skills & Experience
 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in investigations or social welfare field
  • Conducting investigative interviews and complex case conferences/discussions
  • Current Driver’s Licence Max 6 requirements 
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting high quality investigations within the framework of the respective jurisdiction
  • Demonstrated commitment to process improvement and the care and protection of children, young people and disability clients.
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting investigative interviews with children, adults and vulnerable persons.
  • Experience in the field of child protection and/or the disability sector.
  • High level analytical ability and good judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive material, demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and operate with integrity and honesty
  • Demonstrated ability in time management, organisational skills and well developed problem solving skills
 
 
 
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
 
This is a national role based in Victoria with some travel to other states and territories
