About the Role


The Project Officer, Service Design is a newly created role within the Employee Relations Branch at the Department of Premier & Cabinet.


In this role you will develop and provide advice on customer focused and innovative digital user experiences that support Employee Relations role as a regulator of workplaces in NSW as well as DPC and NSW Government’s strategic objectives.  


This role reports directly to the Executive Officer, Employee Relations. You will work on the design and implementation of digital resources to empower employers, employees and other stakeholders in the workplace through advice and information regarding their statutory obligations. This includes practical resources such as interactive e-learning modules, webinars and publishing engaging subscription information and related collateral such as FAQs and factsheets. 


In order to succeed in this role, you must have:


  • Experience in user research, interaction design, information architecture and design thinking.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in user experience design or related field.
The Project Officer, Service Design will be responsible for:


  • Identifying and driving the key aspects of user experience, evolution across a multi-channel digital ecosystem, and how it reconciles business and user needs to support best practice.
  • Developing and creating concept models based on evidence of user needs to inform and meet branch outcomes.
  • Contributing to the development of design concepts and sitemaps, including process/screen flows and wireframes to inform product design.
  • Assessing existing properties/sites for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding to improve customer experience.
  • Identifying opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience (based on user research, strategy and best practice) that deliver quality outcomes.

Job note: This role will be initially offered as a temporary 12 month role. A recruitment pool may be established to fill similar temporary or ongoing vacancies in the next 18 months.


Salary: Clerk Grade 7/8. Package includes base salary ($97,152 - $107,541) plus superannuation and leave loading.
