About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Psychologist/Social Worker to join our Child Youth and Family team in NSW. The role is a client centred role that works in partnership with National, State and Area teams to improve client outcomes. The incumbent will provide advice, support and coaching to Therapeutic staff within the OOHC program.

Our OOHC program is divided into North and South across NSW and this role will be responsible for the Northern area and could be based in any OOHC offices within this region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional supervision to ITC Therapeutic Specialists
  • Assist the local multi-disciplinary teams to be compliant with legislation, standards, contractual requirements and internal policy.
  • Lead professional practice and provide expert knowledge and support to achieve optimal outcomes and reduce risks for clients and carers.
  • Provide advice to the LWB Child, Youth & Family Director as required including Positive Behaviour Planning and Restricted practices.
  • Provide local multi-disciplinary teams with specialist advice on complex or sensitive cases, identifying risk, and support their decision making and learning by considering practice issues that are responsive to the changing needs of the children, young people and families.
  • Support the transfer of current research and practice initiatives by role modelling with local multi-disciplinary teams and taking a lead role in specific functions such Positive Behaviour planning and Restricted Practices to support learning and development of the local multi-disciplinary teams
  • Advise, liaise and consult with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including team members and Managers regarding complex and sensitive matters
  • Communicate and act in ways that are consistent with Life Without Barriers Values of Responsive, Imaginative, Courageous, Respectful and Relationships
  • Provide an environment free of abuse, harm and exploitation for people we support

Skills & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology as a minimum
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated coaching experience , skills and knowledge in child protection/out of home care services / family support and preservation
  • Demonstrated experience in Positive Behaviour Planning and Restricted Practices in Family based Care
  • Demonstrated experience implementing evidence informed practice models across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in providing professional development through training, coaching and monitoring
  • Experience in leading professional group supervision both reflective and task oriented
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience working in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches
