About the position
We are seeking an experienced Reference Librarian to join our Reference Services team. In this role you will provide reference and information services to Members of the Parliament and other Parliamentary Library clients. You will answer complex inquiries across a broad range of disciplines requiring considerable research and apolitical evaluation of materials with a high degree of accuracy.
On a rotational basis, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive, indexed newspaper database by analysing, selecting, archiving and indexing articles from major newspapers.
Note: To be considered for this role you must hold qualifications acceptable for associate membership of Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

1. The Reference Services team of the Parliamentary Library delivers timely, accurate and authoritative responses to complex information requests across a range of disciplines. Outline the relevant reference and research skills, knowledge and experience you would bring to the team and this role.
2. This role requires you to work independently, applying your own judgment in the development and maintenance of an in-house database. At the same time, you must be an effective team player. Provide recent examples of how you have managed to balance these two requirements in your previous roles.
