Registry Manager Coroners Court of New South Wales

Job Reference: 51469

Courts, Tribunals and Service Delivery are recruiting to fill an ongoing full time Registry Manager role at Lidcombe

  • Competitive salary ranging from $87,493, - $96,540p.a, + super
  • Diverse and inclusive organisation
  • Generous leave entitlements including flex leave

About the organisation

Communities and Justice (DCJ) enables services to better work together to support everyone’s right to access justice, support families and strengthen/bolster the promotion of early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

Courts and Tribunal Service Delivery manages and supports the largest court and tribunal network in the country. There are 164 courts and tribunals throughout NSW, many in regional and rural areas.

About the role

Court Services are seeking an experienced people leader to be a member of a cohesive and dynamic management team to deliver high quality operations.

The role supervises teams and may work independently to meet statutory and administrative obligations and deliver high quality and professional services to clients.

The role promotes a working environment that values ethical behaviours and good performance to achieve quality service delivery outcomes and organisational objectives.

Reporting to a Senior Manager the successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team within a mid-size Registry and effectively allocate resources to meet the Department’s requirements.

The role also supports the Registrar to work collaboratively with the State Coroner and multiagency partners, NSW Health and NSW Police to ensure the implementation of shared strategic operations in the coronial jurisdiction.

The role may be required to perform some quasi-judicial and procedural functions and work independently.

Working at the Coroners Court has some unique challenges.

Staff need to have strong communication skills to liaise effectively with Coroners, advocates, police and next of kin. Staff also need to have a fairly high level of resilience as the Coroners Court deal with grieving family members who can be angry, extremely upset, abusive, threatening, etc. and the staff always need to remain compassionate and considerate of their situation. Staff also require resilience as they will see and hear things (especially in Court), which can be very distressing.

Duties

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong capabilities in:

  • Ability to supervise staff and allocate resources to ensure registry standards are met and quality services are delivered to clients.
  • Ability to implement procedures and training and ensure staff are adequately skilled and informed of procedural and legislative changes to ensure best practice and standards in the delivery of quality services to clients.
  • Able to provide advice and report to senior management on the registry’s operations and contribute to the development of procedural changes that enhance client service and/or improve efficiency
  • Willing to contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives that aim to improve work practices.
  • Ability to adapt to work in different jurisdictions.

Role requirements

It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and proof of vaccination will be requested prior to commencing employment.
