About the role
The Senior Accountant sits within the Better Regulation Finance Finance team and manages the finances of the Service Delivery Frontline. The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing financial and management accounting services, including the development and implementation of financial plans, savings initiatives and strategies, financial analysis and reporting within the Cluster to ensure compliance with accounting standards and its financial obligations. The role also contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of financial policies, procedures and practices that facilitate and contribute to improving financial reporting and related financial systems within the Cluster.

About you

  • The successful applicant is a well-respected finance professional with experience managing interdependencies, with strong communication skills
  • You balance competing priorities in line with agreed targets and expected level of quality to ensure function and business objectives are achieved in a complex regulatory environment.
  • You will also possess superior stakeholder management skills and the ability to encourage a strong working relationship at all levels between the Business and Corporate Finance given potentially competing priorities.
  • You are a CPA or CA qualified finance professional with a strong understanding of financial and management accounting services including financial analysis and reporting. Above all, you have a proven track record of getting things done.
  • Financial Partnering works alongside business units to provide Executive Directors and managers with financial information, tools, analysis and insight.
  • Provide expert accounting and cost control across complex projects / programs of work with multiple stakeholder interests and interdependencies, raising standards and driving improvements in accounting management, process administration, in adherence with financial standards and delegations.
  • Provide project accounting, project forecasting and project reporting expertise to various projects, providing expert insightful analysis, reporting on projects financial performance against budgets and forecasts.

Desirable Skills:

  • You have demonstrated systems experience in SAP, BW, and TM1.
  • Experience working in a large Government Organisation and understanding the Treasury Budget system.
  • Experience working in Building and Digital Projects/Environments.
