About the role

The purpose of the Senior Practitioner is to provide practice and cultural guidance and direction for employees within the newly transferred Disability services.  The Senior Practitioner will lead a small practice support team of two behavioural Support Practitioners to ensure that safeguarding practices are implemented.  The role is also responsible for ensuring there is effective support and coaching provided to employees regarding strategies for clients with the most complex needs. This role will be based in our Canterbury office.

Key Responsibilities
• Work in partnership with teams to implement and promote best practice in service delivery e.g. Person Centred Active Support (PCAS) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).  • Provide leadership and best practice in the implementation, monitoring and review of restrictive practices.  • Support and provide practice guidance, training and coaching to frontline staff and managers, especially those supporting participants with complex needs. • Participate as a member of the Victorian Disability Accommodation Supports Leadership team and actively contribute to strategic planning • Complete reports for both internal and external stakeholders, referring to analysed data where appropriate. · Monitor and approve the development of legislative reports (e.g. behaviour support plans and supervised treatment orders) and monitor the implementation of such
Skills & Experience
• Understanding of the reporting requirements of relevant legislation in particular in relation to restrictive practices · • Understanding of the safeguarding requirements of the National Disability Insurance agency • The ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders  • Excellent written communication skills for the creation of reports, correspondence and other material.  • Strong verbal communication skills and presentation ability. · Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of program
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
