About the Role

The NSW Telco Authority is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect. This role will be responsible for the vision and laying out of all high-level network designs for alerting systems such as paging through design, development, and execution of the integrated solutions. The network designs would align with the Enterprise Architecture plans and meet the current and future needs and requirements the business and of our customers.

This role provides comprehensive guidance and control on the development of, and modification to principals, processes, and guidelines to ensure that the standard architectures, strategies, policies, and practices are always adhered to.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Utilise unique operational and technical skillsets, working across multiple customers ensuring a deep knowledge of customer requirements of the mission critical messaging platform.
  • Build network architectures by following through the business requirements documentation.
  • Be able to evaluate available solution options and propose what works best.
  • Provide expert advice for improvement on existing network architecture.
  • Have complete understanding on how paging networks work (radio & core networks).
  • Be able to model network traffic in terms of number of messages and network capacity.
  • Define paging network migration strategy from existing network to new network.
  • Collaborate with other business units and technical experts to ensure all stakeholders all aligned with the proposed solutions.
  • Represent Telco Authority as an SME on various forums and be able to present proposed solutions to Telco Authority customers.
  • Working closely with Program Manager and other colleagues, be accountable for ensuring that the Telco Authority only invests in highly resilient, fit for purpose messaging infrastructure.
  • Accountable for outcomes and actions associated with cross platform Operational Communications and ensuring that the Paging Program delivers precisely what is needed by our core customers, within the committed timeframe.
  • Ensuring that complex technical conclusions can be explained clearly, simply and completely to stakeholders across the spectrum of operational and technical experience.
  • Be directly involved in all specifications, procurement, and governance, from Program establishment to handover into BAU Operations to ensure that the characteristics of the paging service delivered to Telco Authority customers is of sufficient end to end standard to substantially exceed the operational requirements of front-line users.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Degree in telecommunications, system communications or related engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience working on wireless telecommunications networks.
  • Your experience with Public Safety networks (LMR and Paging Systems) will be highly regarded.
  • Proactive in finding problems before they happen, propose solutions and manage implementation.
  • Experience in large scale network rollouts.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple internal and external teams and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in conducting meetings, taking minutes and communication back to wider audience.
  • Expertise in managing competing requirements and expectations.
