The City of Sydney is seeking a suitably experienced and tertiary qualified professional to join our Health and Building Unit. You will be investigating building and development related compliances, participating in the backpackers and boarding house inspection program and inspecting pool barriers to ensure compliance.
Our Health & Building Team offers a very friendly and helpful working environment, which supports all of its staff members through in-house professional development and assistance, whilst recognising the importance of a balance between work and lifestyle commitments.
To be successful you will have:
- tertiary qualification such as but not limited to a TAFE Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in building, building science, building surveying, engineering, planning, architecture, construction management or similar
- demonstrated experience in development compliance work and/or building surveying
- sound understanding of building construction methods and materials suitable for residential and commercial buildings and structures
- working knowledge of the National Construction Code of Australia
- sound knowledge of state building legislation and regulatory requirements for all classes of buildings and structures
- well-developed understanding of essential fire safety measures within buildings.
Previous experience in building certification or National Construction Code consultancy will be an advantage.
