About the role

The Child Safe Engagement Officer plays an important role in enhancing engagement with the Child Safe Standards and other regulatory schemes administered by the OCG. Their primary responsibility is to support child-related organisations in implementing child-safe practices. This involves establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government and non-government partners, as well as organisations that provide services to children.We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners across sectors to promote child-safe practices, representing the OCG in a professional manner, adhering to organisational values.
  • Assess and guide organisations to implement the Child Safe Standards, using basic project management principles and methodologies.
  • Provide tailored advice to organisations on implementing the Child Safe Standards and addressing child safety risks through the provision of educational information.
  • Design and deliver workshops, webinars, training sessions and other sector-specific supports to increase the adoption of the Child Safe Standards

Key knowledge and experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, project planning and management, as well as influence and negotiation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to work with a diverse workforce and key partners across various sectors.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation is strongly preferred.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent knowledge and workplace experience including ongoing professional development.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working with Children Check.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children's Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
  • The role also requires a current driver's licence as there is travel associated with this role.
