About the role.

We're seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join us as a Principal Project Officer. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing initiatives that support the NSW government's commitments to Closing the Gap and advancing other strategic priorities. Leading a dedicated team, you'll spearhead the development, implementation, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects and policy initiatives aimed at achieving tangible outcomes aligned with our organisational objectives.

 

Your role as the Principal Project Officer will be multifaceted and impactful. You'll lead your team in developing, evaluating, and reporting on innovative approaches to support government commitments, ensuring that our initiatives are at the forefront of driving positive change. From overseeing all aspects of project management, including preparing business cases and establishing appropriate governance structures, to representing the Department's position at various forums and providing expert advice to stakeholders, you'll be instrumental in driving forward our mission.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team towards achieving project objectives.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including the capability to develop, evaluate, and report on innovative approaches.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality written material on complex policy issues.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation, including representing organisational positions at various levels.
  • Ability to critically analyse complex policy issues and provide sound recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving project outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate through complex, cross-portfolio, and inter-governmental matters.
  • Experience with grants management, commissioning and business development is highly valued

Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12. Package includes base salary ($139,787 - $161,663) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
