About the directorate

The NDIS Worker Check is a division of the OCG. It operates under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Checks) Act 2018 (NSW). It screens workers that provide services and supports to people with disability (adults and children) under the NDIS. It aims to support people with disability by preventing workers that pose a risk of harm from working with them. We gather information about a person's history, such as their criminal and workplace records, and undertake an assessment as to whether they pose a risk of harm.

About the role

The role reviews history information about applicants and makes an assessment as to whether they pose a risk of harm to people with disability (NDIS participants). They collect and collate information from disparate sources. They analyse the information and make sound recommendations about the probity of the information and what further information may be required.

It conducts their role in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and make consistent, considered and evidence-based recommendations.

We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to:

  • Assessing a range of complex and sensitive material and determining the appropriate course of action in a high-volume work environment.
  • Review and categorise criminal, workplace and other records in accordance with relevant legislation andbusiness procedures.
  • Identify and obtain relevant information from external parties including applicants and employers toinform the assessment process.
  • Critically analyse information to form a view on its probity and weight in an assessment.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Proven experience in the analysis and assessment of risk is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in administrative or regulatory decision making is preferred.

Essential Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive relevant workplace experience is required.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working with Children Check.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children's Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.

  1. Provide an example of a time when your performance resulted in timely and quality outcomes. In your answer, please outline the steps you took in achieving the outcome and whether you could have done anything differently.
